Elegant Enigmas: The Art of Edward Gorey, on display through Sept. 2 at the Norton Museum of Art, 1451 S. Olive Ave., features more than 150 drawings that Gorey, who died in 2000 at age 75, created for many of his books, plus an array of sketchbooks, illustrated envelopes, book-cover ideas, and theatrical costume designs. Pirate paintings on display

Old School Square Cultural Arts Center: Cornell Museum Of Art And American Culture features a unique exhibition that celebrates pirates, myths and legends through the imaginative paintings of artist Don Maitz. An award-winning painter, his work has been exhibited in museums around the country. The museum is at 51 N.Swinton Ave., and is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:03 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Take a sunset tour of the Jupiter Lighthouse Wednesday, and get an inside look at the nuts and bolts of a working lighthouse watchroom.
