MENU

Varied selection of salads, gourmet pizzas, pasta, seafood and meat entrees. The menus change often, with different specialities offered depending on the season. A recent lunch menu offered artisan speck flatbread, an Italian hoagie featuring Black Forest ham, “breakfast for lunch” (Yukon Gold corned beef hash with eggs) and more.

ATMOSPHERE

A large dining room with dark woods, wide comfortable booths and exposed brick walls, City Cellar has a romantic, upscale environment that encourages diners to linger.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

Although unglamorous-sounding and easy to overlook, the onion/mushroom soup ($7.50) was the perfect rich, creamy blend of these two classic flavors. The handmade ricotta gnocchi à la vodka appetizer ($11.50) was so tender that it almost had the texture of scallops, with a rich cheesy sauce made of asiago and mozzarella. In the quinoa salad with salmon ($18.50), fluffy grains are a tasty backdrop for fresh veggies and perfectly cooked meat.

REASON TO GO

Impress a client or a date — or just enjoy masterfully prepared meals that will make you think you’re in one of a big city’s top restaurants. The large bar is also an accommodating space to plan a meet-up.

SERVICE

Outstanding. Our waiter was warm and friendly, made excellent suggestions, and responded with patience and humor when my companion and I were indecisive and had a couple of odd requests. He was always there the moment we needed something, yet wasn’t hovering or intrusive.

NOISE LEVEL

Moderate.

KID FRIENDLY

Yes.
