In her Roberta Roller Rabbit kurta, white linen pants, stylish bowler straw hat and a matched set of King Cavalier spaniels, she cuts a smart silhouette on the deck of the Sailfish Marina, as she might in the Hamptons or on a posh Caribbean island, which she may or may not own.

Yet she fits in perfectly here, in this local mingle of casual tropical shirts and the occasional blue blazer, a scene that unfolds on the breezy edges of Riviera Beach.

Yes, you can get by in your more casual boating attire, but spotted amongst the Tommy Bahama shirts lining the restaurant, I watch a father and son in matching blazers strut through the dining room, gait in sync. They know how good they look.

It’s the perfect place to dock the boat (or better yet your friend’s boat) and grab an elaborate cocktail to watch the sun set behind the shining boats. But it’s just as enjoyable during Sunday brunch – and respectful enough to bring the grandparents to for a proper dinner.

And while the guests do pay attention to what they wear, the menu is properly casual: simply prepared Florida seafood. There’s something about watching the big cruisers pass by that makes you think, “why, yes, ordering fried seafood is most certainly the only way to go.”

So you go for the calamari or the coconut shrimp or the fish and chips and don’t look back.

Come to Sailfish on a Tuesday night and be treated to live music outside complete with all your Jimmy Buffett favorites, which is perfect for strolling the docks and watching the large, fairly ugly fish appear, begging for crumbs. Don’t get too involved with them though – you might end up eating their cousins for dinner. Properly fried, of course.

Sailfish Marina Resort and Restaurant: 98 Lake Drive, Palm Beach Shores, Singer Island; open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a “high tide” menu from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and a breakfast buffet served Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; reservations not accepted; (561) 842-8449; SailfishMarina.com
