The first thing to catch your eye upon entering Buddha Garden is the tree, a cascade of gorgeously pink cherry blossoms smack in the middle of the dining room, so perfect that you conclude it has to have been created by a Hollywood set designer (and was, in fact).

But beyond that impressive feat in faux foliage is an almost more welcome sight, depending on how hungry and/or thirsty you are — the busy sushi bar and the bar.

Buddah Garden is the new downstairs neighbor of Atlantic Avenue’s popular Buddah Sky Bar, a cozy, exclusive-ish emporium of Asian delights accessible only by elevator, offering impressive views of the Avenue, the ocean, and the bustle of Delray Beach. The newly revamped place, which most recently housed Italian eatery Spoonfed, brings the Sky Bar’s charms down to street level, offering the same creative menu of sushi, dim sum and other favorites closer to the earth.

We were always a fan of Sky Bar’s dim sum, especially the steamy hot shu mai dumplings, including the Crystal Dumplings ($7), a glittery envelope of vegetables, and the seafood shu mai with tiger shrimp, scallops and shiitake mushrooms ($10). They continue to be delicious at Buddha Garden, as does the sushi. We loved the spicy tuna roll ($13) and its smooth crunch of sesame seeds, and the fancy edamame with truffle oil ($4, $8).

As for the bar, our favorite specialty drink is the Strawberry Geisha ($12), with strawberries, wine and elderflower liqueur, which tastes sweet and delicious and giggly. All of the speciality drinks from upstairs, as with the food, are available in the Garden as well.

The Geisha, we like, because it’s not only yummy but matches the tree, which is the first thing we fell in love with. But not the last.
