There are a few things you need to know about brunch at the Dune Deck Café.

First, there will be a wait. The Dune Deck is about as beachside dining as beachside dining gets, so why wouldn’t every snowbird - and local - have the same idea as you do about grabbing a weekend brunch with a view. How long your wait depends on how early you rise.

Second, they don’t take plastic.

Third, the meters in the parking lots are pretty darn hungry, so bring lots of dollars and lots of quarters.

Fourth, after you’ve worked your way through the special of the day or one of the eggs Benedict dishes, a funny thing happens. Somehow, you get glued to the chair. This happens despite the fact that a dozen hungry guests are eyeing your table. Between the mesmerizing view of the ocean, the gentle breeze wafting through the restaurant and a belly full of food, you cannot move.

This is a perfect spot for brunch, with its view and its rotating specials. I’m a fan of the egg dishes, like the nova Benedict with creamy hollandaise, or any of their giant omelets — portions are huge! I promise, you’ll be full ‘till eight.

And when you finally do rouse yourself, you can meander down the beach, stick your toes in the surf and think about how full you are — yet how completely worth it it was.

Dune Deck Café: 100 North Ocean Blvd., Lantana; 561-582-0472; open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
