After a long morning on Delray’s pristine beach, if you can muster the energy to stumble across A1A and settle into BurgerFi, there’s something glorious waiting for you. And it may require eating dessert first, as BurgerFi’s legendary “concretes” require your full attention.

For those unfamiliar with a concrete, they are as they might sound, a filling concoction made with vanilla custard layered with glamorous add-ins.

When I expressed my “give me your best” attitude, they steered me in the direction of Red Velvet or Key Lime. But batting its eyelashes furiously from the menu was “O.M.C” which stands for “Oh My Chocolate” Concrete and contains chocolate custard with peanut butter, brownie, chocolate chips and chocolate sprinkles. There’s also a tropical freeze and a build-your-own, all for $5.57.

The custard, incidentally – for those who didn’t gain their college weight from frozen custard, specifically from Shakey’s at Mizzou – is made with cream, cane sugar, eggs and “all-natural flavors.”

The Key Lime was actually layered with Key Lime Pie, as in: I was slurping up graham cracker pieces moments later. The citrus notes were bright and fantastic on a deceptively warm day.

But be warned, O.M.C., I’ve got my eye on you for next time.
