It’s not that I don’t adore Sala Thai’s succulent, four-star (in heat factor) green curry with tofu ($12.95).

Or its thoroughly satisfying shrimp pad Thai ($13.95).

Or its super-sweet Thai coffee ($2.50).

And it’s not that I don’t appreciate the friendly servers or the pleasant dining area, with its year-round Christmas lights.

The real reason I’m a huge fan of Sala Thai is, if you’re trying to get to a movie at the Cobb theater across Indiantown Road from the strip-center restaurant, just say the word.

From your lips to the chef’s ear, and the next thing you know you’re watching 10 minutes of trailers, but on a full stomach.

A TASTE OF ART

Art of the canvas meets art of the kitchen next week when the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County hosts its Taste of Art bash. The council folks invite the public to come (in cocktail attire) and mingle at their Lake Worth headquarters, sip some festive cocktails and savor small bites prepared by chefs from La Bonne Bouche, Dave’s Last Resort & Raw Bar and South Shores Tavern & Patio Bar.

It all unfolds against a colorful backdrop of artwork by local artists. (Think funky holiday presents!)

A Taste of Art takes place Thursday Dec. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cultural Council headquarters, 601 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth.

Tickets are $50. You can RSVP by calling Kristen Smiley at 561-472-3342 or email her at ksmiley@palmbeachculture.com.
