DINNER AND A MOVIE

Staci Sturrock’s pairing of film and food

The film: Total Recall, opening Friday, in which Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel try to make audiences forget Ahnold’s 1990 take on the Philip K. Dick short story, We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.

The food: Remember Joan Crawford in 1945’s Mildred Pierce? Remember Kate Winslet in last year’s HBO production of Mildred Pierce? Remember how Mildred Pierce made her fortune? That’s right — chicken and waffles! Coolinary Cafe’s remix uses a boneless cut of chicken and adds cheddar cheese and diced jalapeno to the waffle batter. While you’re there, save room for one of the cafe’s inventive desserts (a recent special: banana egg rolls), and you’ll have a meal you won’t soon forget.
