THE DISH: Apricot jam pressed sandwich, $7.99

THE RESTAURANT: Café Toria

This cute little café on Evernia Street adds another great lunch option for those around the downtown area. Owner Helen Inniss, a self-proclaimed foodie whose menu includes recipes from family and friends, opened her small storefront in February of 2012 and serves up an array of fresh and healthy breakfast items, sandwiches, salads and snacks. The apricot jam sandwich is a delicious blend of flavors; deli-sliced roasted turkey, sweet apricot preserves, fresh rosemary and brie are pressed between thick and crisp layers of multi-grain bread, toasted and served with a side salad or chips and plenty of love.

“I want my café and the food to feel like home,” says Inniss, “I love to get to know my customers, to have that community feeling. We have a lot of regulars and they try many of the items on our menu, but always come back for this sandwich. The bread comes from a local bakery and it’s delicious, and the sweetness of the jam, the savory turkey, herbs and mildness of the cheese – the blend of all the flavors, that’s what really makes this item special.”

THE INFO: Café Toria, at 410 Evernia Street in West Palm Beach, is open for breakfast and lunch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Phone: (561) 290-5108.
