Quick Bites: Stamp your foodie passport

By Liz Balmaseda

Pistache is promising the world. Culinarily speaking, that is. The lively Parisian-style brasserie has launched a “Tour du Monde” program that celebrates the flavors of food capitals across the globe, travel from Spain to England, Greece to Brazil, Italy and Morocco. The tour launched on Pistache’s fourth anniversary earlier this month. It offers diners a “passport” which will be stamped at each featured night. (That passport is a ticket to prizes, free drinks and, for the luckiest holder, a trip for two to Paris.)
A night in Morocco arrives with kebabs and belly dancers, while an evening in Russia brings borsht and violins. This Saturday’s night in Spain includes flamenco music and dancers.
Of course, Pistache fans can count on their regular menu favorites and signature dishes as well as chef Julien Gremaud’s dreamy summer menu (hello, jumbo scallops with eggplant caviar and basil coulis).

Here’s the Tour du Monde lineup:

Saturday: A Night in Spain

July 4: American barbecue and fireworks

July 14: traditional Bastille Day Waiters Race, with street performers

July 27: An Evening in London, featuring the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony

Aug. 18: Celebration of Greece, shattered plates and all

Sept. 8: Viva Brazil, with dancers and Brazilian video

Sept. 21: A Tour of Italy with guest chef Fabrizio Giorgi from Cafe Sapori

Sept. 29: An Evening in Russia, with dancers and violinist

Oct. 12: Sultry St. Tropez (celebrating chef Julien Gremaud’s birthday)

Nov. 10: Moroccan Night, with belly dancer and drummer
