NEW AT LITTLE MOIR’S RESTAURANTS
North county foodies know chef and restaurateur Mike Moir rewrites the menus daily at his Jupiter eateries Food Shack, Maxi’s Lineup and Leftovers Café. But perhaps the most aromatic addition in recent days isn’t created in Moir’s creative kitchens.
It’s the coffee. Roasted in Tequesta by Oceana Coffee, Moir’s eateries are now serving fresh-brewed coffee that’s roasted specially to suit Moir’s taste for deeper roasts.
This special cup is a dark-roasted Sumatra. Oceana owner and roaster Scott Angelo gives the earthy dark chocolate notes of the Sumatra deeper intensity with the darker roast. At $3 a cup, it’s a fragrant finale to a great meal.

STILL ON THE MENU
THE DISH: Tuna-basil roll, $11 appetizer
It’s an old favorite, too popular, too good to bounce off the menu at Little Moir’s Food Shack and Leftover’s Café, both in Jupiter.
Fresh, sushi-grade tuna is wrapped in basil and an egg roll wrapper and quickly deep-fried until it’s golden crisp outside and beautifully rare inside. It’s sliced into rounds and served atop a spicy melon (or seasonal fruit) salad with a wasabi dipping sauce.
Pair it with a cold craft brew on draft and it’s the perfect local bite.
THE INFO: Little Moir’s Food Shack and Maxi’s Lineup are at 103 S. U.S. 1 (Publix plaza), Jupiter; (561) 741-3626; Leftovers Café is at 451 University Blvd., (Bermudiana plaza), Jupiter; (561) 627-6030

A CELEBRATION OF SOUTH AFRICA
St. Andrew’s is Lake Worth’s resident foodie church, one that loves to celebrate the cultures of the world. The Episcopal church in the city’s downtown district loves its food and wine events, be they simple pairings or more elaborate cultural affairs.
Sunday, the community explores the foods and wines of South Africa in a celebration titled “Out of Africa.” The wine component of the tasting features five reds, five white wines and champagne.
To pair with the wines, there’s a menu of curried goat, samosas, bobotie, (a Malay meatloaf), frikkadelle (South African meatballs) and African sweets, from spice cookies to milk tart to “Telephone Pudding,” which is a recipe passed along by rural cooks over party lines.
Adding a rhythmic layer to the fest, there will be African drumming and dances by the Ballet Brika ensemble.
WHAT: Out of Africa, a celebration of South African wines and cuisine
WHEN: Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
WHERE: St. Andrew’s Church, 100 N. Palmway (on the northeast corner of North Palmway and Lucerne Avenue), Lake Worth; (561) 582-6609
HOW MUCH: Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased by calling the church office, (561)-582-6609. (Visa, Mastercard, cash or checks are accepted.) All proceeds will benefit St. Andrew’s programs and services.
