MENU

Appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches, and entrees with an emphasis on grilled and barbecued offerings. Some pasta and seafood as well. Barbecue comes on beef, pork, chicken and turkey.

ATMOSPHERE

It’s loud and casual, with TVs over the bar area, which sits in a central location, and booths and tables a step up from picnic tables, but with the same feel. The place is spacious, but you can still end up with a wait.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

The St. Louis-style ribs ($16.99 for full rack) are savory and moist, and satisfy my husband’s hankering for ribs, since we don’t live in more traditional barbecue territory. I like to get a combo ($12.99 for two meats) like the pulled pork and smoked turkey breast so I can try all the different barbecue sauces. Try the Carolina mopping sauce, and definitely get the BBQ baked beans as a side. They have a little more onion than I prefer, but the sweet and tangy taste is excellent.

REASON TO GO

Well, if you don’t like barbecue, the salads are pretty good and a burger headed to another table looked tempting. Smokey Bones is a little roomier and more accommodating for kids than some options.

SERVICE

The T-shirts boast of good looking waiters, but you’ll have to judge for yourself. Mason was very helpful with my questions on the children’s menu and everything was delivered quickly, which can be important if some of the diners are impatient.

NOISE LEVEL

Fairly noisy, but you don’t really go here for a romantic dinner.

KID FRIENDLY

Special menu has the usual children’s options ($4.99 for mac and cheese). Bring a sippy cup if you have small children, as the milk arrived in a full pint cup.
