Taking Your Pulse: We’re down to our final 11 for favorite local breakfast place photo
Which local place is your favorite for breakfast? Let us know!

By Jon Tully

Two weeks ago, Taking Your Pulse voters gave us a slew of nominees for favorite local pizza, showing more love for the little corner pizzeria than the big chains.

The same thing happened when we asked you about favorite breakfast place.

Staying away from the more familiar names, you tended to nominate the cafes and restaurants that are only open until 2 in the afternoon, that are best known by word of mouth and have a line of hungry but patient regulars out the door on weekends.

Our top 11 — we had a tie, so we allowed one more nominee — represents a wide range of places all over the county, from the shore (John G’s, Benny’s on the Beach) to further inland (Southern Kitchen, Pete’s Place). We have one place — The Wine Dive — that has a highly respected brunch, while others are more known as a really good eggs-and-bacon place.

Click here to vote for your favorite. (And remember, the poll takes a little longer to load, so please be patient.) We’ll have the full results on Monday.

Not surprisingly, each place’s fans are quite vocal with their support.

Gulie Scherzinger is a fan of John G’s in Manalapan: “Who doesn’t like a locally owned and operated family restaurant where the the daughter is hostess and her brothers are chefs? Who doesn’t like cinnamon nut french toast, polish omelets, and premium jelly for your toast? With this restaurant’s recent move to Manalapan from Lake Worth due to the Lake Worth beach renovation, who doesn’t like free parking?”

Jessica Rupar loves Jim’s Place up in Jupiter: “I’ve been going there for over 20 years and I have never gotten a bad meal or bad service! It is a great place!”

Joe Fiala raves about The Center Street Nook, also in Jupiter: “The Nook is appropriately named as it is a small restaurant that packs in quite a crowd. Be prepared to wait on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but the assured that wait is worth it.”
