ATMOSPHERE

Soft zen-like music wafts over the large, dark and serene dining room. It’s a cool oasis from the surrounding sun-bleached maze of strip malls.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

The edamame appetizer ($3.95) was crunchy and satisfyingly salty. Miso soup ($2) was the perfect blend of deep, rich flavors. The fresh basil stir-fry lunch special ($7.99) with firm, fried tofu showcased fresh, crunchy vegetables and a tangy brown sauce with an edge of sweetness. Pad Thai ($11.99, or $12.99 with shrimp or squid) is a mild take on the favorite standby, with the same hint of sweetness in the sauce. The chicken teriyaki bento box ($8.95), served with soba noodles, a California roll, soup and salad, featured tender strips of meat in a tasty brown sauce.

SERVICE

Warm and friendly. Our server treated us like we were old pals she was delighted to see, though she wasn’t obtrusive. Helpers kept our water glasses filled and plates cleared promptly.
