The fair officially opens at noon Friday, so not all of the fair’s 90-plus rides may be ready for fairgoers, and the expo and other attractions aren’t included in today’s admission.

Today also marks the final day to purchase discount admission and ride tickets at Publix, BB&T, Bud’s Chicken & Seafood and TD Bank locations. An advance purchase can save up to 30 percent off gate prices. Admission for an adult (12 and older) is $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. For children under 12, $5 advance, $8 gate. And for seniors, $7 advance, $9 gate. Kids 5 and younger get in free.
