Henry’s, a popular restaurant in Delray Beach, offers American comfort food with European influences.

MENU

American comfort food with French, Italian and other European influences. Flatbreads, salads, sandwiches and burgers, and entrees ranging from meatloaf to horseradish crusted salmon. There are also “daily classics” including Southern fried chicken, beef short ribs, crispy Long Island duckling. Thanksgiving dinner is served every Thursday, with roast turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash, sage gravy and cranberry sauce. For the health-conscious, Henry’s also offers grilled entrees, including chicken, salmon, pork chops and beef.

ATMOSPHERE

The handsome dining room features a bistro style with warm woods and blue-and-white pottery. There is also outdoor seating in the front and on an attractive but slightly neglected-looking side patio.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

The Mediterranean chopped salad ($15) boasts a blend of crispy fresh veggies with kalamata olives, pepperoncinis and crispy eggplant cakes that have an edge of sweetness. My companion’s veal cutlet parmagiano ($22) with mozzarella cheese and mezzi rigatoni tubular pasta had a nice-tasting tomato sauce, although the meat’s texture wasn’t as tender as it could have been.

REASON TO GO

Henry’s is a slightly upscale hot spot that appears to be extremely popular with the retiree crowd in the west Delray Beach and Boca Raton areas.

SERVICE

Our server was friendly and casual but seemed a little overwhelmed. We were left waiting for a few lengthy stretches.

NOISE LEVEL

Very lively during our Friday evening visit, as large groups crowded into booths and tables and congregated around the bar.

KID FRIENDLY

Children are welcome, although they are not common at Henry’s and there is not a kids’ menu.
