JUPITER —

The town’s annual holiday boat parade event Saturday promises something for everybody.

Kicking off at 5 p.m. at the Riverwalk Events Plaza, 25 S. Coastal Way, the free event includes live music, children’s activities, visits with Santa Claus, choral and dance performances, fireworks and boat parade viewing.

The event concludes at 9:30 p.m.

“The holiday boat parade is a unique Florida tradition, and the Jupiter Riverwalk is the perfect place to enjoy fun activities, great food, entertainment, and of course the boat parade and fireworks,” Jupiter’s Community Relations Manager Kate Moretto said. “We’re excited to offer this free celebration where the community can come together to enjoy the spirit of the season.”

Free parking is available along Indiantown Road east of U.S. 1 and in the parking garage just south of the Indiantown Road Bridge. Free handicapped parking will be offered on Coastal Way.

Trolleys will provide free shuttle service from parking locations to the events plaza beginning at 4 p.m. The last trolley leaves at 10:30 p.m.

The events plaza also is an official U.S. Marines Toys for Tots collection location. Guests are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation.

The holiday boat parade, sponsored by the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, begins at 6 p.m. just south of the North Palm Beach U.S. 1/Parker Bridge and will proceed north up the Intracoastal Waterway to Lighthouse Park. It’s expected to arrive in Jupiter by 8 p.m.

The town will provide text alerts on the progress and location of the parade. Viewers can get updates by texting BOAT2012 to 84483.

Bridges along the parade route will remain open between 45 minutes and an hour. Those include the Parker Bridge at U.S. 1 in North Palm Beach and bridges at PGA Boulevard, Donald Ross Road, Indiantown Road and U.S. 1 in Jupiter.

Information on bridge openings is available here.

In addition to the Riverwalk Events Plaza, the parade can be viewed from the North Palm Beach Country Club, Sawfish Bay Park, Lighthouse Park and the Square Grouper Tiki Bar.
