Miami is a reader’s paradise this weekend

The Miami Book Fair International is the premier literary event in Florida, and one of the biggest in the nation, drawing hundreds of writers to downtown Miami to talk about, read from and sign copies of their new books.

A week of evening readings has already happened, but the biggest event is this weekend’s street fair, where you can drop in on author appearances, buy books at stands set up throughout the college grounds, and attend food and children’s-related events.

Below is a selected list of author events, pulled from the festival’s website.

SATURDAY

11:00 a.m.: Martin Amis reads from “Lionel Asbo: State of England”

Noon: Carlin Romano on “America the Philosophical” and Henry Wiencek on “Thomas Jefferson and His Slaves”

2 p.m.: Tim Dorsey on “Pineapple Grenade,” Steve Forman on “Boca Daze,” Neil S. Plakcy on “Dog Helps Those” and Michael Haskins on “Car Wash Blues”

2:30 p.m.: Aline Crumb, “Drawn Together: The Collected Works of Aline & R. Crumb,” talks with Hillary Chute.
