Iko-Iko has been a part of South Florida’s music scene for more than 30 years, performing their singular mix of blues, rock and swamp. All the while, their lead singer and guitarist, Graham Wood Drout, has been helping other musicians in the area, and donating his time to charities.

Now that Drout has been hospitalized with complications due to diabetes, the local music community is coming together to help.

Such mainstays as Albert Castiglia, Joel DaSilva, Bonefish Johnny, Jeff Prine, Joey Gilmore, the Nouveaux Honkies and more will be on hand on July 8 at Fishtales on 33rd in Fort Lauderdale for a benefit to help Drout offset his medical costs, according to a Facebook post on the event.

To wrap up the show, Iko-Iko band members John “Good Rockin’ Johnny” Wenzel, Mitch Mestel, Ron Taylor, Nicky Yarling and Daniel East will be joined by former member Nick Kane for a blistering set.

There will also be a silent auction.

All proceeds will go to Drout’s medical fund.

For more details, visit the Facebook page devoted to the event or visit Iko-Iko.com and click “Help Graham”.
