Summer Jam hits Meyer Amphitheatre Saturday and Sunday

If you love rock and reggae, water and waves, Summer Jam is the answer to your prayers. The music kicks off on both days at 12:30 p.m. at Meyer Amphitheatre, 104 Datura St., in downtown West Palm Beach. Bands include:

  • Dharmata: Playing everything from Pantera to Jeff Buckley, this band has been tapped for SunFest, MoonFest and the Buzz Bake Sale. www.dharmataband.com
  • Alana Davis: Her new album, “Surrender Dorothy,” will be released by her own company, Tigress Records. She released her first self-produced album in 2005 and is creating a new model for how things are done. Info: www.myspace.com/alanadavis
  • Venejer: Selected as one of the top six finalists to perform for the 2010 Florida Grammy Showcase, they’ve performed with bands like Sevendust, Static-X, Hurt and Nonpoint. Info: www.facebook.com/Venejer
  • Azmyth: From the Ocala area, Azmyth is brothers Tim and Tyler Downey who began playing music as kids and have created their own signature sound. Info: www.facebook.com/Azmythband
  • Kayavibe: This reggae/dance band also comes from Central Florida, bringing a combination of contemporary dance rhythms and catchy vocals by Brandon Gibbons to the stage. Info: www.facebook.com/kayavibe
  • The Burnin Smyrnans: Pronounced ‘bur-nin smur-nins’ this band has played more than 500 shows and 40 festivals in the last 4 years. Info: www.facebook.com/theburninsmyrnans
  • 3rd Stone: This band blends rock, funk, hip-hop, reggae and West African rhythms into something wholy unique led by Anthony Kavouklis, who in 2006 was a 10-year-old guitar prodigy. Info: www.3rdstoneband.com
  • The Supervillains: These Florida-bred swamp rockers have been bending genres and partying hard since 1998 with high school buddies and co-lead vocalists Dominic Maresco and Scott “Skart” Suldo at the helm. Info: www.facebook.com/TheSupervillains/
  • B-liminal: Defined by a unique sound and a hot live show that combines reggae, surf, and rock, B-Liminal will deliver positive vibes and tasty grooves. Info: www.facebook.com/BliminalMusic
  • Ky-mani Marley: The Marley surname says it all. This is Jamaican royalty at the top of the hierarchy of the reggae sound. Info: www.kymani-marley.com
  • Rootz Underground: This is Jamaica’s most recent contribution to the reggae and world music scene. The six members are gritty, organic and full of soul. Info: www.rootzunderground.com
  • Seven Mary Three: With their sixth album the band has returned to its roots, as has founder and singer/songwriter Jason Ross. Info: www.7m3.com/
  • Toots And The Maytals: Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of ska and reggae. Led by Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, who grew up singing gospel music in a church choir. Info: www.tootsandthemaytals.com
