That’s why he was the perfect choice to help celebrate both Pretzel M&M’s first birthday and their new Guinness World Record by unveiling the World’s Largest Piñata in New York.

“Unfortunately, I had to destroy this work of art,” the singer said about taking the first swing at the 46-foot piñata.

Cee Lo talked to Parade.com about his unbelievable year, which brought him success on the airwaves and the small screen. His smash hit “Forget You” continues to dominate the charts, and he’s gearing up for a second season as a coach on NBC’s The Voice. On his one-of-a-kind musical style. “I’m inspired by so many others before me who were pioneers and opened up the door for these opportunities that I have. I’m a fan more than anything else. I’m inspired by what’s been done and I’d also like to inspire someone else." On his fashion influences. “I’m inspired by the likes of Kiss and Alice Cooper and Sly Stone and Elton John — people who have great showmanship. I just like to shake things up and breathe some fresh air back into music.”

On how he spends his down time. “All I need is a few hours here and there, some good food, some good company, and a nice hotel suite! I’m very fortunate for everything that’s happening to me. There are very few things to complain about. I get to do what I love for a living. It’s definitely a labor of love.” On his gig on The Voice. “I’m so grateful for the success of that show. It was a pleasant surprise for all of us. I am looking forward to a second season and what we can accomplish the second time around.”

On his fellow Voice coaches. “Everybody’s cool in their own way. I would love to trade places with Christina [Aguilera] for a moment to see what it feels like to have that ability to sing as brilliantly as she does. She’s a wonderful singer. I’m in awe of her. Blake [Shelton] is a very down-to-earth, charming, witty, charismatic guy. I’ve grown very fond of him. And Adam [Levine] and I are friends, too. He’s just super cool.”

On playing rapper Raekwon’s father in a new biopic. “Me and Raekwon have been friends for quite awhile. He dropped this opportunity on me and I was just so flattered. I was speechless that he would ask me to play such a significant role in his life. Our careers started out around the same time and people were always likening us to each other since we have similar features. He’s kind of always been my play brother, so it kind of makes sense [for me to play this role]. I’m excited about it. I would really love to do a good job and really honor him.”

On his upcoming album with his Atlanta rap crew Goodie Mob. “Don’t expect change, expect evolution. It’s a continuation of the same spirit. It’s new and improved, so expect the unexpected.”

His thoughts on today’s artists. “I’m a fan of Drake’s. I’m watching. I like more things than I love, and I notice more things than I like. I have a career that spans 18 years, so sometimes when I see someone just starting out, I’m just a little bit skeptical. I like to see their attitudes be more appreciative and I want them to aspire towards long-term careers. I want that for other artists. So I wait before I become a fan or emotionally involved.”
