...because it's ALL excuses. Seriously. I have watched this show for all 817 seasons, it seems like, and I never seen a bigger collection of whiners in my life. There are always whiners. But there seems to be an abundance of contestants this year who are being given free training and diet advice, plus the chance to win cash, and are still unmotivated. You have a large fit man yelling at you and that's not motivating?
And you aren't grateful?
I initially loved the concept of this season, which featured contestants that were less obese than in other years. The hook was that these were overweight people like you see every day, who are their own worst enemies because of the excuses they make, that weight watchers with 100 pounds down to 10 to lose use - I don't have time. I can't leave my comfort zone. And even with the usual dumb villains (Conda, this is you) around, there seemed to be enough connection between them and myself, who has 30 pounds to lose and all the excuses in the world.
But last night, I watched the now game play-happy contestants vote off Cassandra, who has openly expressed the joy and graciousness she felt at being picked to be on the show. She knew that it was a gift, and she was joyous about it. I liked her. And after being booted, she's moved to New York to be a writer, which makes me so happy. This woman has the right idea. And I adore her.
Now we're left with Conda (yuck), mean-faced Kim, and Chris, who is so whiny that she makes me cry. She's got a cool haircut, but all she does is complain. She had the opportunity to work with a different trainer this week, and all she did was "Wah wah wah." Come on, girl. FREE TRAINER. You suck that up and deal.
There is no joy this season. I don't like these people, and their whining makes me not care if they lose weight. It's all a game. And if you aren't embracing this "journey" of getting a better life for yourself and your only short-term goals are to feel superior to other people...then I can't deal with you. This show used to be inspirational for me, who has less weight to lose than these folks but who saw them as brave. Now I wish there was a version of this show for those with 50 pounds or less to lose, because if Dolvett and Bob were trying to help me, and then maybe give me cash?
No whining.
And I don't much care anymore.
