Steve Buscemi in HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’

Nucky Thompson can’t be a nice guy anymore.

After a first season of trying to be at least a little friendly while dealing illegal hooch and basically running Atlantic City, Steve Buscemi’s character on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire has had to be a little more ruthless, and it looks as though he’s not letting up in Season 3.

The preview shows Buscemi as Thompson shooting his revolver into an unseen assailant — those who saw Season 2 already know who that’s supposed to be, but I’m not going to spoil it for those who haven’t — and then lets the revolver, along with other pieces, drop onto the rainy ground. I’m guessing that Thompson will be tasting the consequences of his actions in the Season 2 finale — seems a little too obvious.

But Buscemi looks incredible — steely and sure of himself. He truly can’t be half a gangster. (Link courtesy Vulture.)

That’s fab, five — Stephen Colbert has some pretty fierce new interns, as you can see here. The Olympic gold-medal winning U.S. gymnastics team is making the expected rounds, but Colbert is one of those guys who can figure out cool ways to get his famous guests involved on The Colbert Report, and this is a pretty good example.
