Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Who she is: Weinberger is a champion for children and a rescuer of animals, an inexhaustible volunteer for half a dozen charities and foundations. But for Weinberger, it’s family first. She’s married to Eric, a business consultant, and they have two daughters: Riley, 6, and Zoie, 9.
Weinberger grew up in South Florida. She serves as vice president for Big Dog Ranch Rescue, a not-for-profit no-kill shelter in Wellington which has placed thousands of dogs in loving homes. She mentors children in crisis for Place of Hope, a Palm Beach County facility that provides a stable, faith-based atmosphere to heal. Weinberger is also a stalwart supporter of Be a Star, a children’s cancer charity, and Els for Autism, golfer Ernie Els Foundation, established in 2009 by Els and his wife, Liezl, to focus on the issue of autism. Her plate is full, but Weinberger says, “I’m very organized. I just have to do what I can do and be as efficient as I can.”
Weinberger is also an investor in FUKU, the new upscale Asian eatery at 215 Clematis St. The restaurant often hosts charitable events, taking its cue from the philanthropic Weinberger.
Weinberger lives in Palm Beach Gardens with 12 dogs, four cats and six horses, even though her husband is allergic.
“I’m a big believe that every day is a gift,” Weinberger said.
