Wine lovers have a slew of options at SunFest, including the Robert Mondavi tent, which was a hit in 2010. (Photo courtesy SunFest)

It’s about the music, of course, but there’s so much more. Even for the wine aficionado and wine-curious. So, if the floating oasis bars at SunFest are a little too much action for you, then stroll over to the Wine Garden in Trinity Park, near the south end of the site.

In a shady, serene setting with tables and chairs, you’ll be able to sample nine different wines. While Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi is the official wine of SunFest, you’ll also be able to taste Ruffino Lumina pinot grigio, Rex Goliath pinot noir, Ravenswood merlot, plus others that will include sauvignon blanc, malbec and a sangria zinfandel. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the wines from Southern Wine & Spirits representatives, who will be on hand for questions and one-on-one interaction.

The Wine Garden will be open Friday 5 – 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 – 9 p.m., and the wines are sold as flights (or samples) of three for $5. New this year will be a North Wine Location, a standalone wine booth where you’ll be able to purchase a glass of wine. (Prices will vary, but start at $5 a glass.) The selection here will include Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi chardonnay and cabernet, as well as Clos du Bois chardonnay and Ravenswood Vintner’s Blend merlot. If you want a little more education to go with that wine, then you’ll want to check out the Robert Mondavi Discover Wine Tour located in the food court. A separate tent will be set up where you can attend half-hour seminars conducted by Mondavi representatives, such as Wine 101 and a cooking demonstration. The wine tour is collaborating with Café Chardonnay restaurant to pair small bites with the wines. The wine tour will offer tastings of a number of varietals from Mondavi’s Private Selection label, and new this year will be their Woodbridge sparkling wine. Unfortunately, the Mondavi wines in the wine tour are only available as samples in the seminars and are not available for purchase at SunFest. The Robert Mondavi Wine Tour will be open Friday 5 – 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 – 9 p.m.
