This week’s bar: SpoonFed, Delray Beach

The scene: As you enter Spoonfed — it’s in the same Atlantic Avenue building as Buddha Sky Bar, and occupies the lower two floors — you pass a glass case of revolving red velvet cakes and seven-layer Italian wedding cakes on one side and a display of cookies, scones and breads on the other. The interior of Spoonfed, open since October, is equally sweet: dark wood floors, burnt-sienna walls, mirrored ceilings and a vivid orange bar. Seating roughly three dozen outside and almost 200 inside, Spoonfed offers several types of seating arrangements, including space for big parties upstairs and a chef’s table in the back.

The signature cocktail: The unbeatable partnership of prosecco and St. Germain served as head bartender Alex Bennett’s inspiration for the Lavender Elderflower ($10), which also contains lavender lemonade vodka and fresh lemon juice. The garnishes — a raspberry, a mint leaf and an orange-peel twist — add seasonal color, a heavenly mint-orange scent “and the raspberry is like the prize at the bottom,” Bennett says.

Other noteworthy drinks: The Rum Cosmopolitan and the Watermelon Champagne Martini are among the specialty cocktails most popular with Spoonfed patrons, Bennett says.

Bar bites: Sliders (pick your poison, from portabello mushroom to prime rib), coal-oven pizza and a burger generously topped with chili and served with homemade kettle chips.

And during happy hour, that huge burger is a mere $4.

Deals:Happy hour runs from 3 to 7 p.m. daily, and the deals include $3 beer selections, $4 house cocktails and $5 house wine.

Info: 217 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach; (561) 450-7557; invite friends, more.
