Free Sierra Mist on Saturday at Wal-Mart supercenters

By Victoria Malmer

PepsiCo will spend at least $3 million to give away at least 10 million free cans of Sierra Mist Natural this Saturday at 2,800 Wal-Mart supercenters nationwide to introduce its new version of the lemon-lime soda.

Last month the company announced it was remaking the drink by using sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup and getting rid of preservatives.

It added "Natural" to the name to cater to shoppers' desire to avoid artificial ingredients and launched a major marketing campaign.

Shoppers are concerned about artificial ingredients, so companies are removing high fructose corn syrup from a slew of products.

They're touting these moves in everything from ketchup to cola to attract shoppers. The Associated Press contributed to this article.
