Just in time for holidays, Foodpickle offers free cooking help via Twitter, text message

By Victoria Malmer

Help has arrived, cooks. Next time you can't remember how long to boil an egg for hard-boiled (10 minutes at a gentle simmer) or need a recipe that uses Damson plums, you can get an answer via Twitter or SMS text message. You can also ask the question on the foodpickle section of food52.com.

Food52 co-founder Merrill Stubbs said: “Foodpickle has been a great success already, and we wanted to make it even more user-friendly and instantaneous. By adding an SMS feature, we're opening up the service to anyone with a mobile phone, so people can ask questions from the grocery store or in front of the stove, just like they'd text their moms for cooking advice." If their mom was texting-savvy.

Recent questions answered: How to adjust brining technique for kosher chicken/turkey, and what to do with a dozen quail eggs.
