Rich Delgado loves the look of French cuffs on his striped twill shirts, the convenience of a ticket pocket inside his suit jacket, the knowledge that the hem guards on his pants are monogrammed with the names of his daughters.

But here’s the real bottom line: The impression that Delgado makes with his wardrobe matters – as senior vice president and treasurer of Ocwen Financial Corp., he wears a suit and tie five days a week.

Problem is, shopping doesn’t fit easily into an executive’s schedule.

Enter Carol Wieder, a.k.a. My Suit Girl, who visits Delgado’s West Palm Beach office to take his measurements and place fully customized orders for suits, shirts, shoes and collar stays. She sends the information to a clothing manufacturer, and four to six weeks later, she hand-delivers the goods.

The convenience suits Delgado. “It’s very difficult for me to get out,” he says. “And the quality and care – you can’t put a price on that.”

Wieder banked on that kind of customer satisfaction when she launched My Suit Girl in 2008.

The 44-year-old West Palm Beach resident had worked for a direct-sales clothing firm for 17 years, after earning a business degree from the University of Florida.

But in 2006, she left that job to help her husband, Joel, with his construction company and hurricane shutter business.

Two years later, with the economy sputtering along, she needed a new gig. “And there was nothing out there,” she said.

So, she customized a job for herself, a direct-sales clothing service that she owns and operates – and that still allows her time for son Jack, who is 4.

“It was a natural fit,” Wieder says.

Custom shirts start at $99, and basic suits begin at $550. The average price of a suit purchased through My Suit Girl is $850.

And although she sells to both men and women, men make up 95”percent of her business.

“Most guys don’t like to shop and don’t want to do it,” she says.

From the closet of My Suit Girl: A few of Carol Wieder’s wardrobe tips

• She’s a big fan of HawesAndCurtis.com, a British site that sells fitted and semi-fitted shirts with your choice of pleats, ruffles and bows.

>
“I own about six shirts from them and really like them all.”

• She recommends ZelliOverstockBargains.com for great sales on classic men’s footwear.

“Their big news is that Gary Wasserman (who was Cole Haan’s leading designer years ago…) has teamed up with Zelli.”

• She sings the praises of these fabrics for summertime wear: seersucker (it naturally wicks moisture away from the skin, Wieder says), fine count broadcloth (“You can buy up to a 200 thread count broadcloth today”)

and linen (“Yes, it will wrinkle, but it also will pull moisture away from the body”).
