The First Lady appears to be in great shape and has toned legs that most ladies would be proud to show off.
She’s been criticized before for baring her arms and is known for taking fashion risks.
She took a major risk choosing Jason Wu the 26-year-old designer who was relatively unknown to design her inaugural gown.
Her outfit of choice makes perfect sense for most while strolling at the Grand Canyon, but should the First Lady be so casual even while vacationing?

It always shocks me to see the bad grammar and spelling in people’s comments. Everyone has an opinion, but very few can effectively communicate it. Glad to see the average I.Q. level dropping everyday. Guess it’s not too hard to say “paper or plastic” or “so you want to super-size that?”
I am glad to see another person of intellect on here. Most people can’t communicate and others feel as though they need to abbriviate them….can’t they spell? well, if they can now, they won’t later…abbrivations will soon be too engraved in their brains to remember how to spell. I have read all of your comments and I personally feel like a woman should be able to wear whatever makes he comfortable. I’m quite sure she did not care how anybody would feel about her wearing her shorts (short shorts as some of you say), as long as it is not disrespectful to her, her husband, or her kids. To me, she always looks elegant when she’s out. She is vacationing…..And the one’s who shoould really feel ashamed are those who are constantly photographing her when she is trying to have a little alone time (privacy), with her family. Taxes have to be paid regardless of where the money goes. There isn’t anything we can do about it. So when it’s deducted from your check, it gone. So just belive and have faith that it will be used wisely. I feel as that it is time to leave the Obama family alone and allow President Obama to be focused and do the things that we voted him into office to do. And also, pray for Michelle. I’m sure it is not easy (as she makes it seems) to be the wife of the President of the United States. Keep doing what you are doing Michelle…..”YES WE CAN!”

Are you kidding me that in 2009 a woman is wearing mid-thigh shorts to the Grand Canyon and we are having to have a conversation about it? Our First Lady is a down to earth mother of two, who happens to be married to the president. I was shocked that he was at the Grand Canyon and it was 106 in pants. Let’s talk about that. We had to watch a flabby Clinton jog for french fries in shorts and nobody cared. Get a life people and leave her alone. Look around you she more than any other first lady in a long time is actually one of us!

Judy is wrong to say ‘nobody cared” about Bill Clinton’s jogging attire. Anything that can subject the US to ridicule is inappropriate conduct for the President and his family (remember Billy Carter?). Michelle does not just “happen to be married to the president.” It was a conscious choice they both made.
However, these shorts are not “short shorts.” They are mid-thigh and appropriate for walking in the Grand Canyon area. They also have nothing to do with Barack Obama’s policies.

Mrs. Obama’s shorts are too short for a women her age. She should be wearing more of a walking short that comes to her knees.
I voted YES, in support of Michelle Obama, because there was no option for MAYBE. I certainly don’t feel that she should show off, nor do I feel that it was completely inappropriate of her to wear shorts. She’s a public figure and should act accordingly. It may have been nice if the shorts were a little longer, but don’t we have more important things to focus on??

First of all what a dumb question? I think she should wear whatever she wants she is on vacation and her shorts are not too short they are mid length. She is just tall. It does not bother me either way.
Her legs are not toned and she does not have good looking legs. I do not know what legs the writer of this article was looking at. She looks a little bold legged to me. Her arms are probably the only attractive feature she has but as far as her legs no way. Her legs are what they are whether she wears mid length shorts or longer shorts or a dress.

It does not matter what her figure she is entitle to wear whatever she wants.
