Technically, she released her debut album in 2008, but 2009 was a great year to be Gaga.
Lady Gaga, who’ll be playing two shows in Miami on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2, has seen her already rising profile shoot into the stratosphere this year.
She had already seen two singles from her debut, The Fame, hit No. 1 in several countries, as “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” became ubiquitous. Though she wouldn’t quite hit those heights again, Lady Gaga parlayed that exposure and became the face of dance pop.
She hit the top 10 in the U.S. again with “LoveGame”, then “Paparazzi” and finally “Bad Romance”. Her first tour, The Fame Ball Tour, gained strong notices, including her show in Fort Lauderdale in April. Read the full story

Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour makes its way to Miami’s James L. Knight Center on New Year’s Eve. The tour, which was put together in the wake of a crumbling cross-country jaunt with Kanye West, begins in Montreal in November.
By herself, Lady Gaga has enough visual appeal and insanely catchy songs to do well on the road.

The Fame Kills tour, which was to feature Kanye West and Lady Gaga, has been canceled.
Live Nation announced the news in a brief statement Thursday that did not offer any explanation. Refunds are available for those who brought tickets for the tour. It was to kick off Nov. 10 in Phoenix and was scheduled to run through at least January.
Tickets were to go on sale on Saturday for the tour’s Miami stop, which would’ve taken place Dec. 9 at AmericanAirlines Arena.
The name of the tour was to be “Fame Kills” – a sentiment West may have been feeling in recent weeks. The Grammy-winning rapper has endured a firestorm of negative publicity since he hijacked the award-winning moment of country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift at last month’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Tickets are on sale this weekend for:
• Chilled-out rockers Rusted Root head to Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 28.
• Galactic, a jam band who knows their way around big-time beats, plays Revolution on Jan. 9.

Sean Kingston performs at the recent ALMA Awards. (AP)
After the huge success of his self-titled debut, singer-songwriter Sean Kingston still had one problem: girls.
“It’s like I meet this girl. She’s like, ‘I don’t want to be with you, you’re too chubby. I don’t like the chubby guys,’ ” he explains about his new single, “Face Drop.”
“But I’m like, ‘Yo, you should take the time out to see how I am inside.’ It should be about my inner, not my outer. But she judged me and didn’t want to be with me. (But) now I got my own girl, I’m doing my own thing and I made her face drop. She’s like, ‘Oh my God!’ “
Kingston’s first CD went gold and three singles hit the top 15, with “Beautiful Girls” becoming a No. 1 summer smash.
The 19-year-old Miami-born, Jamaican-bred performer is also hoping music lovers will be blown away with the sound of his sophomore album, Tomorrow. The CD’s first single, the party jam “Fire Burning,” is a hit and Kingston’s hoping to further duplicate the success of his first CD with album collaborators such as Wyclef Jean, Good Charlotte and RedOne, the producer behind Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” and “Just Dance.” Read the full story
Two tours that were in doubt for South Florida visits this past week seem to have cemented their shows for later this year.

West’s Web site, kanyeuniversecity.com, is now listing the full range of dates, including a Dec. 9 appearance at AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.
Meanwhile, Leonard Cohen, who’d suffered a bout of food poisoning in Spain, is set to play the North American leg of his tour beginning Oct. 17 at Sunrise’s BankAtlantic Center.
