What do you do when you’ve tackled just about everything in Hollywood? Well, if you’re Bill Engvall, you take a vacation.
I’d like to try relaxing at some point,” he joked in a recent interview, “I’m going to head to a place where no one can find me.”
And who can blame him?
Fresh off the heels of his gig hosting the 2009 CMT Music Awards in Nashville on June 16, I got the chance to speak to Engvall before he headed to Chicago to film the TBS Comedy Special, which will air in November.

“I thought it went really well,” he said, referring to the CMTs. “I was excited when Def Leppard and the B-52′s walked in because I wasn’t the oldest guy in the room anymore.”
It’s that self-deprecating sense of humor that has drawn fans to Engvall and kept them faithful ever since.
The Bill Engvall Show began its 3rd season on TBS on July 18 and, according to Bill, the viewers have a lot to look forward to this season.
Like, “funnier shows.”
“(The Pearson’s) are dealing with the economy,” Engvall said, “Just like every one else.”
“We’re also going to have (Bill’s) brother (who is played by actor Stephen Dunham) and (NASCAR racer) Carl Edwards as guest stars.”
With a great cast in Nancy Travis who plays Bill’s wife and Tim Meadows who plays Bill’s best friend Paul, fans of The Bill Engvall Show are sure to get the kind of funny they’ve come to expect from these actors.
“The chemistry was there from day one,” Engvall said of the cast’s relationship. “Not just because we all have a comedy background, but because we’re all parents. We have a show here that we’re not embarrassed for our kids to watch.”
And sometimes, there is nothing wrong with sticking to that formula.
Look for new episodes of The Bill Engvall Show on TBS, Saturdays at 9 p.m.
