I’m going to cry. There’s no doubt about that.

In about 20 minutes, I will provide written witness, in real time, of the end of “Guiding Light,” which has been part of my life for most of my life, as well as others’. It’s going to be hard, and glorious, and sad.

I’d like you to come along with me.

3:01: I have always loved the Coopers, and I love that the final show has kicked off with them. That Frank has aged well – I love him as one of the emotional centers of the show.

FLETCHER! He was always my favorite character on this show. A fantastic romantic representation of reporters, and with great hair.

Another returnee: Tom Pelphrey. Why that kid isn’t a huge movie star is beyond me. He has Colin Farrell’s intensity and looks. Good luck, kid.

I like the returnees, but if there are no flashbacks, I’m gonna be mad.

3:06 p.m.

Phillip Spaulding – the original soap rich kid bad boy. And Alex- their relationship was always one of my favorites, because they both intensely loved and disliked and….

MINDY!

…Sorry. Distracted. She used to bother the mess out of me, because everyone fell in love with her, no matter what. Krista looks amazing. So does Robert Newman, as Josh.

CBS…Doesn’t Victor Newman need a brother on “Young and the Restless?” They could be brothers, right?

Josh and Reva. This, my casting director friends, is chemistry. Josh wants to kidnap her and marry her. Do it! Can you imagine a life without Josh and Reva circling each other like lovesick sharks?

I can’t. Guess I’ll have to, huh?

3:17 pm

Christina and Remy! So cute. Yay, married.

So happy that Olivia is happy with the cute girlfriend. Please let Frank be happy.

Back to Reva and Josh, who has just told her that “every part of me is designed to be with you.”

Swoon. Swoon. I want that in my wedding vows.

He says that a year from now at noon, he will be at the lighthouse (good reference, “GL”) waiting for Reva. Romantic. But I want her to go now. Follow, follow!

3:26 p.m.

Let it never be said that Jordan Clark is not a handsome man. Billy Lewis is my second-favorite character on this show, tied with Maureen Bauer, who the show murdered.

Moving on.

Matt looks…older. Great. But remember when he was the hot young thing? I am very old. I love his relationship with his daughter.

College goodbyes. So sad. I wish I’d watched this more consistently over the past year, because I am missing some of the subtext with the kids.

Buzz…adore. Remember when Justin Deas was “Santa Barbara”‘s Keith Timmons, and he was sexy hot funny evil personified? What a fantastic actor, who has forged a career in soaps and managed to remain well-respected as an actor, not just as one on soaps.

Phillip and Beth – I never loved her, actually. Sorry. But I do love them and their relationship with Rick, who never caught a break.

3:35 p.m.

Blake and Frank? I like it! She looks amazing! I love when the middle-aged among us hook up. This show has been great at that, which…

Ooh, awkward. The baby’s being named after Frank. That’s nice…Pelphrey sighting. I got distracted and this happens.

I wanted a flashback.

Everyone’s in the park, which is nice. Mindy! I did miss her, actually. I missed this show. This is breaking my heart a little.

Let me say again that I love Kim Zimmer, and how beautiful she is, without a crash diet or weird surgery. She’s luminous and earthy and Our Reva.

I just teared up…give me a minute, OK?

3:43 p.m.

Crazy…we’ve actually skipped a year? Seemed like two minutes. Time flies.

Here’s the new Christina and Remy baby. Blake and Frank are together! Love this! Rick and Mindy! I love this! Is that Danny? He always had pretty hair.

NuMallet. I never warmed to him. And I liked the original Dinah better. Sorry. But that’s what happens.

Josh! At the lighthouse! I wish we could have seen a year of inner turmoil, but we only have 15 minutes so we’ll take what we can get.

Reva and baby! She’s here! It’s on! “You knew I was gonna show up,” she says, but not what she was gonna say.

Don’t break my heart, Show.

I always squee when she calls him “Joshua.” Full names are sexy. They were always meant to be together. I hated when he was with her sister. That’s when I parted ways with this show, but glad somebody had a clue.

“I’m in,” she says.

You’d better be.

That did my heart good.

I hope Alex and Fletcher come back. Any Jay Hammer sighting is a good thing.

Lillian and Buzz are awesome together. I never quite forgave her for sleeping with Ed, but that’s OK.

I love me some veterans, and the Musketeers being back together makes me smile.

It looks like it’s ending so early. Do we get some flashback? Please? Please?

Reva, put that kid in a car seat! I guess she always had some foolishness in her.

I love that it seems to be ending on Reva and Josh!

The End?

Sob.

3:57 pm

Please come back.
