“We’re spending money we don’t have. We’re borrowing money from countries we don’t trust and don’t share our values,” DioGuardi said in a speech Tuesday morning.

DioGuardi’s daughter, Kara, is one of four judges on American Idol.

“My daughter loves me. I’m sure she’ll do everything possible … to get me elected to the U.S. Senate,” said DioGuardi, who served as a U.S. Representative of Westchester County from 1985 to 1989.

I hope Dioguardi’s candidacy doesn’t mean we’re going to be saturated with stories and pictures of Dioguardi’s barfy, boring daughter.
