Season 11's 'Dancing with the Stars' cast: (front row) Brandy, Jennifer Grey, Margaret Cho, Audrina Patridge, Florence Henderson, Bristol Palin; (back row) David Hasselhoff, Kurt Warner, Kyle Massey, Rick Fox and hosts Brooke Burke and Tom Bergeron. (Not pictured: Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino and Michael Bolton) (ABC MediaNet)

On Tuesday’s Extra, R&B singer Brandy gushed that she’d been matched with the best partner for Dancing with the Stars, though she couldn’t say who that would be.

Now, we know why Brandy was so happy — she’s going to be working with Maksim Chmerkovsky.

Chmerkovsky has been, over the years, one of the show’s more well-known partners, along with Julianne Hough, Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke and Edyta Sliwinska. And though he’s never taken a partner all the way to the mirror-ball trophy, he’s had three top-three finishes — runner-up with Mel B and third place with Laila Ali and Erin Andrews.

The entire field’s partnerships were announced on ABC’s Good Morning America (via Zap2It).

They are:

Michael Bolton/Chelsie Hightower

Margaret Cho/Louie Van Amstel

Rick Fox/Cheryl Burke

Jennifer Grey/Derek Hough

David Hasselhoff/Kym Johnson

Florence Henderson/Corky Ballas

Kyle Massey/Lacey Schwimmer

Bristol Palin/Mark Ballas

Audrina Patridge/Tony Dovolani

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino/Karina Smirnoff

Kurt Warner/Anna Trebunskaya

and the aforementioned Brandy/Chmerkovskiy pairing.

With the field and partnerships complete, you can handicap the show a little more easily. Grey’s fortunate coupling with Derek Hough — a two-time winner — has to make her the prohibitive favorite, although Brandy would also be way up there.

Trebunskaya’s work with other athletes — she also partnered Jerry Rice and Evan Lysacek to runner-up finishes — could help Warner in a big way. However, the fact that Johnson was able to bring Donny Osmond a title two seasons ago could make the Hoff an actual dark horse.

A couple more interesting scenarios: It’ll be interesting to see how the 6-foot-7 Fox, the former Los Angeles Laker, deals with partnering the 5-foot-4 Burke. And while Dovolani does have another reality-TV star to deal with, he has to be relieved that at least he won’t have to deal with Kate Gosselin’s theatrics. At least, he, and we, hope so.

Finally, you may have noticed that Sliwinska was missing — she has decided to leave the show. Zap2It reports that Sliwinska sent out her reasons on Twitter: “I’m grateful to the show but my life can’t be limited to ‘DWTS.’ I hope you understand. Please know that you guys, the audience was the best part of the experience.”
