Kanye West’s outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards at the expense of Taylor Swift has — whether you like it or not — become a major news story. This one in particular has played out pretty much entirely in front of the cameras and in turn on the Internet.
Let’s take a look at the entire incident, from West’s VMA appearance through President Obama calling the rap star a jackass.
First, here’s the original incident, after Swift won Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me” at the VMAs on Sunday:
Beyonce then turns around and shows real class by giving Swift the spotlight after Beyonce won Video of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”:
West talked about the incident on the first episode of NBC’s The Jay Leno Show, the very next night. Leno’s question about how West’s mom would’ve reacted seems to catch West off guard and very emotionally:
The next morning, Swift talked about what was going through her mind on her appearance on ABC’s The View:
Needless to say, reactions have been fast, furious and multiple. President Obama even had his say, calling West a “jackass” during his news conferencein a clip from TMZ, re-broadcast by the Associated Press:

obama called it like it is.
OVERALL, GOD DID NOT GIVE THE HUMAN BRAIN THE ABILITY TO HANDLE RICHES AND SUPER SUCCESS. WEST IS ONE OF MANY WHO PROVE THAT.

The Obama “jackass” clip was most certainly not from a “news conference” as this post claims. It was playful banter (which is normally off the record) before an interview, and the tape was leaked (probably for money) to the online tabloid TMZ. There is an enormous difference between an off-hand comment and calling out some musician in a news conference.
More interesting, is why it seems Obama is pressed for comment every time some black person does something dumb (e.g. Harry Belafonte). Was McCain ever asked for comment on Lindsay Lohan’s antics?
I sincerely expect better from the front page of the Palm Beach Post. Does pbpulse get to do an end-run around the PBPost’s editor’s?

Obama hit the nail on the head. West is an enormous jackass and sooner or later he will suffer from his stupidity and large ego.
I agree with Llyod…& jojo, you’re miserable; go kill yourself. & i definately feel that the Obama clip was not referring to what happened at the VMAs.
