TMZ.com reports that two sponsors of MTV’s attention-grabbing new reality show, Jersey Shore, have pulled their spots out of the program.

Joining Domino’s Pizza on the sidelines and away from Jersey Shore is American Family Insurance.

A Domino’s rep told TMZ simply: “The content of this particular program is not right for Domino’s Pizza.”

An MTV rep responded: “Jersey Shore may not be for every sponsor or advertiser and we understand that.”

The series has gained an amazing amount of attention, even before it premiered when its promos began showing on MTV. Italian-American groups and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau have both raised flags of protest about the show, which features eight young housemates from the Northeast who party, try to meet members of the opposite sex and occasionally work in a T-shirt shop.

One of the housemates, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentio, told MTV News: “It’s just watching a bunch of young kids interact with the cameras. Is there a dictionary definition of how Italian-Americans should be portrayed? I know I didn’t hold back and I’m not too worried about what people think. When I look in the mirror, I feel good.”

  1. Ann says:

I’m from the Jersey Shore, Seaside Heights exactly. I was actually shocked watching this programming thinking it should have been called “Bennies gone wild”. People from the Jersey Shore do not act this way and actually hate the tourists that come from North Jersey and New York polluting the beaches and acting like fools. But then again, its on the air for entertainment and if people don’t like it, they can always flip the channel!

  2. a t says:

    Forget about it, would you!!

  3. Lorenzo says:

    Dam Guineas!!

  4. Who Cares says:

It is exactly like the Real World show that has been on for years now. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it….it’s that simple.

  5. Kate says:

How is the show more offensive than any other show? This is something like Real World – which is typical MTV. I think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Maybe my opinion will change once I see more of the show.

  6. Sane Citizen says:

    JAGERBOMBS!

  7. dick says:

Not to worry. Just the name puts me off.

  8. b says:

you took the words right out of my mouth ann

  9. I have a brain says:

They are not from Italy therefore they are not Italians… they are a bunch of bafoons that make jersey look bad.

  10. Weighmore says:

This seems Just like Jersey/NY crowd all F’n up my nice Florida life style. How about getting off my beach.

  11. penny says:

i’m from new york and i have to say people from jersey act like this ……… you dont see true new yorkers act or look like this……………………

  12. Anthony says:

It’s not like Domino’s is Italian food. Their stuff is slop they feed to people in the mid-West. In NYC we know you’re from somewhere else if you order Domino’s. What’s the difference between eating Domino’s and eating out of the garbage? Homeless people don’t get sick on garbage

  13. Alison says:

Penny–”People from Jersey” act like that? Funny that the cast is only made up of two “people from Jersey”.

  14. Bernie says:

Penny pay attention. Most of the cast is from NY, one from Jersey and one from Rhode Island so seriously if you’re going to comment gets your facts straight! So your comment should read. i’m from new york and i have to say people from new york act like this ……… you dont see true new jersey folks act or look like this……………………

  15. Keith says:

I do not see why those italians from New Jersey and Philadelphia. That is how they all act anyway-even the adults-they are the worst! Rude, obnoxious, arrogant and no class or manners.

    I guess the trust hurts!!!!!!
