Pete Townshend, longtime guitarist for The Who, told Billboard magazine about the “compact medley” the band will be playing at Super Bowl XXIV at Sun Life Stadium.
The set was conceived by lead singer Roger Daltrey, along with Pete’s brother and longtime Who collaborator Simon Townshend, executive producer Ricky Kirschner and director Hamish Hamilton.
Townshend said the set will pull from the band’s classic works:
“We’re kinda doing a mashup of stuff,” the guitarist tells Billboard. “A bit of ‘Baba O’Riley,’ a bit of ‘Pinball Wizard,’ a bit of the close of ‘Tommy,’ a bit of ‘Who Are You,’ and a bit of ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again.’ It works — it’s quite a saga. A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it — we’ve always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot.”
As the magazine’s Web site points out, the medley format isn’t that unusual for acts at the Super Bowl. Bruce Springsteen and Prince took the same approach in their halftime turns.

What? No My Generation?!
Sounds like a great show. I for one will not be watching. I am one of a growing number of people who can’t get past Townshend’s kiddie porn activities. Knowing that he was placed on a sex offender registry in 2003 puts a fly in my buttermilk.
ttttalking about my generation ,,,not ???
