Within the first few minutes of the new season of True Blood, we find out who belongs to the pedicured foot hanging out of the back of Andy Bellefleur’s car. And it isn’t who you think.

Thankfully, that foot does not belong to our beloved Lafayette, but instead to Miss Jeanette, the drugstore employee moonlighting as a fake Voodoo priestess. Someone wanted Miss Jeanette dead in a big way, considering whoever did it carved out a pretty vital organ. Ew.

So who’s the culprit?

Oh, I already have my suspicions since I’ve seen the next three episodes, but I won’t tell you just yet. I don’t want to ruin the fun.

So what has become of dear Lafayette, then? For some reason hunky vampire Eric has him chained up in a nasty basement dungeon. It’s not like Lafayette is the most moral of the bunch, but he’s obviously done something to anger the ever-powerful Eric.

I’ll give you three guesses as to what it could have been.

I can already tell that my favorite character this season is going to be Jessica, the moody, mouthy teenage vampire Bill was forced to “create” last season.

I love the way she interacts with, well, just about everyone. And it’s hilarious to watch her get a rise out of Bill, who has taken on the role of her over-protective father figure. Especially when he, ever so politely, tells her that her clothes and makeup make her look like a “woman of the night.” Her response? “Awesome!” Yeah, that was pretty funny.

I’m wondering, though, if Jessica will drive a wedge between Sookie and Bill. There has been talk of a Bill-Sookie-Eric love triangle this season, so we’ll have to see.

Changing Jessica and not telling Sookie is big problem number one. Big problem number two is the mysterious death of Sookie’s creepy great-uncle Bartlett. Bill already seems to, ahem, have made some of those mistakes up to Sookie …

And then there’s Jason. It looks like he’s going to find himself way over his head with his involvement in the “Fellowship of the Sun” anti-vampire cult. The leader of The Fellowship, Rev. Newlin and his wife Sarah have taken Jason under their wing. And it seems that Sarah has taken a special kind of liking to him.

Those ladies just can’t seem to resist dumb ol’ Jason and is glistening six-pack.

We also learn a little bit more about Maryann and the hold she has over Sam. She still weirds me out. And for some reason she is steadily pushing Tara and Eggs together. I am already bored of those two. But I am left wondering what Eggs’ deal is. He’s got to have something special to make Maryann try so hard to get him with Tara. Or maybe it’s the other way around and Tara’s got the special something?

By far my favorite scene this episode was between Bill and Jessica. When Bill told Jessica that he was expecting company, Jessica innocently asks “Can we eat her?” Oh the joys of raising teenage vampires.

Things are starting to heat up again in the tiny town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, and from what we’ve seen in this episode, this season might be hotter than the first.

So now I want to know, was the season premiere everything you hoped it would be? Any predictions for the next episode?

I already know … but I won’t tell you that either. You’ll just have to be surprised.

Best line of the night: “I don’t teach. I absorb.” Loved that!

You have to respect a vampire that recycles!
