Rihanna, Billy Joel and More At Odds With Pandora Over Compensation
Rihanna, Billie Joel, and Missy Elliott are among the 125 musicians that signed a letter opposing Pandora Media Inc's proposed bill to change the way artists are compensated. Pandora is pushing Congress to pass the "Internet Radio Fairness Act". If passed, royalties to artists from online plays would be cut by 85%. The letter opposing this bill was written by musicFirst- a coalition of artists and business people AND SoundExchange- a non-profit that collects royalties on behalf of artists.
